Seminar for history educators “European Culture(s) of Remembrance: “Greece in Focus” (3-9 October 2026)
The Call for participants in the fourth event in the frame of the project “European Culture(s) of Remembrance” is opened! In October 2026, multipliers from the field of historic-civic education from all over Europe will get together in Thessaloniki to explore and discuss a culture of remembrance in Greece and beyond. The application can be submitted until 31st of May 2026.

The event will seek to interrelate four central aspects: firstly, it will focus the question how major historical events are represented in the local/regional/national culture of remembrance. Secondly, it will question in how far past or contemporary local/regional/national culture(s) of remembrance shape the political and social dynamics in Greece. Thirdly, it will bring insights into the local practices of historic civic education. Fourthly, it will create space for exchange, networking, and collaboration among participants on these and related topics.
We are looking forward to gathering youth workers, (civic) educators, teachers, trainers, staff of museums & remembrance places, researchers, representatives of civil society organisations etc. with interest and strong background in historic-civic (youth) education and/or respective fields of engagement from Erasmus+ programme countries.
